The Cleveland Amateur Radio will be activating the club house January 25th and 26th for the Winter Field Day Association’s, Winter Field Day Event. Activation will begin Saturday, January 25th at 1900z (2PM EST).

 This event is to help foster and train Amateur Radio Operators who believe that emergency communications in a winter environment is just as important as the preparations and practice that is done each summer but with some additional unique operational concerns.

Disasters are unpredictable by nature and can strike when you least expect them. The goal of this event is to help enhance your skills and ready you for all environmental conditions found in the USA during the spring, summer, fall and winter.

The CARC membership believes, as do those entities of ARRL Organizations like ARES & RACES, that maintaining your operational skills should not be limited to fair weather scenarios. The activation of Winter Field Day will enhance those already important skills of those that who generously volunteer their time and equipment to these organizations.

If you are serious about emergency communications as we are, we welcome you to join us for our event.

The Cleveland Amateur Radio Club will be activating the Club House, Saturday January4^th, for the ARRL RTTY Roundup.

The object of this activation is for amateur’s worldwide to contact and exchange QSO information with other amateurs using digital modes on 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 meter bands. Any station may work any other station.

While this Contest allows for multiple digital modes, we will mainly focus on FT8 and FT4 operations. If this is a mode you have been curious about or are interested in learning about, this would be a great activation for you to participate in.

The Cleveland Amateur Radio Club will be activating the clubhouse for the ARRL’s November Sweepstakes.

The ARRL’s annual November Sweepstakes is the oldest domestic contest, beginning in 1930. Sweepstakes paused during World War II but came back stronger than ever. It’s a competition between North American stations–individuals, teams, and clubs. For many US and Canadian hams, it is their first contest operation and remains a regular event on their yearly schedule for a lifetime. The contest is somewhat unique in that each station may only be contacted once and the number of different recognized locations(“multipliers”)is limited to the ARRL and RAC sections.

Activation will be on the third full weekend November (Nov. 16-18). Contesting period will begin at 2100z Saturday and run thru 0259z Monday.
