Mountain Topping, next Saturday, 19th

This is from the McMinn Co group.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————–
Hey Everyone,

Going to go up on the mountain next Saturday.  If you want to go, the Tellico group will be leaving from Hardee’s in Tellico Plains at 9:00 am.  The Chilhowee Group will be leaving from Hardee’s in Ocoee at 9:00 am as well.

Will spot both Hardee’s on APRS in a couple of days.

It’s up to you to figure out which group you will travel with.  Jeff’s bunch in Polk County has a great time up on Chilhowee and if you live closer to that area, you are encouraged to meet up with Jeff and enjoy the day.

If you prefer the Tellico area though, we will be glad to have you come along with us.

What to bring?

That’s simple, if you think you will need it…..you better bring it!

However, some things are suggested.  It will be a warm summer day, so sun screen, lots of water, bug spray, some food.  You will be responsible for yourself….so plan accordingly.

Radios?  That’s up to you too.  We will have various different rigs set up for you to watch, operate and enjoy, but if you are a new “tech” and all you have is your handheld…..bring it!

We will be monitoring 146.490 while in route, and during the day with an hourly (on the top of the hour) voice net to check up on your well-being……and to chat a little bit too.  This net is referred to as the SAFETY, INFORMATION and DISCUSSION net or just the SID net.

Each team is asked to send a Winlink Position Report with status (either Green, Yellow or Red) and later retrieve a WL2K NEARBY USER report for potential net purposes.

Hope to see you next Saturday….or at least hear you on the radio.  If you can’t make it, listen in for us on 146.490 mhz, simplex with no PL tone
