CARC to Host 2016 ARRL Rookie ‘Round-Up’

IMG_1446     The Cleveland Amateur Radio Club is pleased to  announce it will be hosting the American Radio Relay League’s 2016 Rookie Round-Up. This is a great way to try out contesting in an event designed for newcomers. The purpose of this event is to encourage newly-licensed operators (“Rookies”) in North America to operate on the HF bands and experience competitive Amateur Radio operating.
Experienced operators (“Non-Rookies”) are strongly encouraged to participate and help new operators – either on the air or in person. “Old Timers” should also take note of this event. Consider coming to the club and becoming an Elmer to a rookie (or two). Remember, the more operators that are on the air, the more fun the ‘Roundup will be for everyone.
Activations will begin Sunday April 17th at 1800z (2pm) at the club house. More details about this event can be found at http://www.arrl.org/rookie-roundup. If you are interested in participating in this event please contact me at w4juu@carc.cc or Chris Hunter kk4yem@carc.cc or one of the club officers know.
