The CARC will be activating the clubhouse again for Field Day 2018. All construction on the building addition is scheduled to be completed in time for our annual Field Day contest.
This year we will be activating the Club House as 3E TN. Basically focusing on the 3 big bands of amateur radio, 20 meters, 40 meters and 80 meters. The mode of operation will be up to whoever is operating at that time. With 3 stations operating, we are in need of Rig Captains. The primary responsibility of a Rig Captain is station setup. You are not expected to stay throughout the whole event. Barry and Jose have already volunteered to tag team a station. They will be handling the setup for our 40 meter station. That leaves two more with vacancies.
In addition to Rig Captains, we will also need operators. I will be posting signup sheets, for the different stations, tomorrow at the club house. Hopefully, with a reduction in stations we will be able to keep them operating for the entire event.
As a side note, if you are new to Amateur Radio, this is an awesome learning experience. If you are interested in rig control, contesting, antenna construction, alternative power, etc… this is the event for you.
If you have any questions, comments or want to volunteer to help, contact the CARC Field Day coordinator Jesse Roger W4JUU w4juu@carc.cc.
