AWARD PRESENTED -  Jim Blackburn, W4EXG, (right) is presented the "Ham of the Year Award" in recognition of efforts during 2011. At left is club president Derek Wooley KD5UBL and vice president Larry Bond  KJ4JUZ.

Jim Blackburn, W4EXG, was named "Ham of the Year" during the Cleveland Amateur Radio Club's initial meeting of 2012 on January 10.  Blackburn was chosen based on his work with the club and in communications-related activities in the community.

Blackburn was instrumental in acting as a liaison with a roofing contractor and insurance carrier to replace the roof of the clubhouse after damage in the April tornadoes.  During recovery from the devastating storms, Blackburn was one of the volunteers with Auxiliary Communications Service to assist emergency workers.

The award, which is given annually, was presented at the first meeting of 2012.
